The singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, disclosed that the version of himself known to fans as the African Giant was metaphorically “killed” by those closest to him—his own people. In response to this emotional blow, he said a new persona, “Big 7,” was born to guard the remnants of his wounded heart.

“The ‘African Giant’ BURNA BOY died. His own people killed him,” he wrote.
“Then ‘BIG 7’ was born to protect what was left of ‘BURNA BOY’.
