Gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi, currently standing trial for the alleged murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, was spotted praying in court on Monday as legal proceedings resumed.
Ajayi, who was arrested on January 12, is accused of killing Salome, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja. She was reportedly murdered during a visit to the singer’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Authorities allege that Ajayi attempted to dispose of Salome’s dismembered body before being apprehended. During initial interrogation, the suspect was said to have shown no remorse, instead accusing the victim of infidelity.
In a recent video that surfaced from the courtroom, Ajayi is seen praying—his head bowed and hands clasped—sparking mixed reactions online. While some observers interpreted the moment as a sign of repentance, others criticized what they described as an attempt to sway public sympathy.
