Obidient Movement Has Been Reborn – Peter Obi

 

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the vision of a new Nigeria. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday during the unveiling of a new political biography titled "OBI: The Political Change Agent", the former Anambra State Governor emphasized that the pursuit of national transformation transcends personal ambition.

The book, authored by veteran journalist Ike Abonyi, captures Obi’s political journey and his enduring advocacy for ethical and competent leadership. The event also served as a symbolic moment to announce the revival of the Obidient Movement, a grassroots-driven collective of Nigerians who passionately support Obi’s vision for national renewal.

Addressing attendees, Obi declared,

“The struggle for a new Nigeria is not about me. It is about the future of our children, the integrity of our institutions, and the soul of our country.”

 

He underscored the importance of electoral integrity, stating that the will of the people must be reflected in election outcomes rather than being subverted by manipulative forces. Obi maintained that a true democracy must guarantee that every vote counts.

Highlighting the significance of the Abuja gathering, Obi said the book launch was more than a literary celebration—it marked the rebirth of the Obidient Movement, which he described as “an organic body formed by Nigerians yearning for genuine change.”

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Sam Amadi, who spoke on the inevitability of a new Nigeria. Amadi’s remarks stirred deep reflections on the urgent need for transformational leadership anchored in competence, compassion, and character.

In his statement shared on his official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, Obi praised the author, noting:

“Ike Abonyi did an excellent job chronicling not just a political journey, but a call for transformational leadership rooted in competence, capacity, character, and compassion.”

 

He continued,

“Nigeria is at a defining crossroads. The demand for sincere, accountable leadership has never been more urgent. Our hope must remain alive, and our resolve unshaken. A new Nigeria is not just desirable it is possible.”

 

Peter Obi concluded with his signature phrase of hope:
