Tinubu Commissions Lekki Port Access Road, Flags Off Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Section II

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday officially commissioned the tax credit-funded reinforced concrete road leading to the Lekki Deep Sea Port and flagged off critical segments of Nigeria’s expansive road infrastructure push, including Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 7th axial road.

Announcing the developments via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the President reiterated the strategic role of transportation infrastructure in advancing the goals of his Renewed Hope agenda.

According to President Tinubu, the newly commissioned projects represent more than just construction milestones they are key enablers of national progress. He emphasized that the roads will enhance trade routes, support agricultural logistics, create employment, and boost Nigeria’s economic competitiveness in the long term.

 

“Transportation infrastructure is central to the success of our Renewed Hope agenda,” Tinubu said. “Today, I am commissioning a number of strategic roads designed to open up key corridors for trade, agriculture, and regional integration.”

 

Among the infrastructure projects highlighted by the President were:

• The reinforced concrete access road to the Lekki Deep Sea Port—a major logistics artery aimed at unlocking the full economic potential of Nigeria’s fastest-growing port.

• Section II of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway—a flagship project intended to improve connectivity across southern Nigeria.

• The Kano–Kongolam Road (Section II: Kano–Kanwar–Danja–Hadejia), which aims to enhance transportation in northern corridors.

• The Yakasai–Zalli Road and several other ongoing developments spread across Northern Nigeria.

“These roads are more than just concrete, steel, and asphalt. They are investments by your government in mobility, jobs, and Nigeria’s long-term economic competitiveness,” Tinubu stated.

 

The president’s infrastructure drive is seen as a cornerstone of his administration’s strategy to stimulate economic growth through improved connectivity, ease of doing business, and rural-urban integration.

Government officials and stakeholders present at the various commissioning ceremonies hailed the projects as proof of the administration’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive governance.
