A political advocacy organization, operating under the banner of the APC Youth Solidarity Network for Progressive Change, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to endorse Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the group’s national president, Gideon Oche, the network described Senator Musa as a "strategic thinker" and "generational bridge" whose leadership could be pivotal in revitalizing and repositioning the ruling party at a critical moment in its history.
“We are making this patriotic call with a profound sense of urgency. Senator Sani Musa is not just a ranking member of the Senate; he embodies loyalty, political depth, and a future-focused mindset that the APC desperately needs as we prepare for 2027,” the group said.
A Call for Strategic Leadership
The youth group emphasized the need for the APC to move beyond political favoritism and embrace a leadership style anchored on competence, vision, and a clear understanding of Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. They warned that failure to do so could result in internal fragmentation and a loss of public trust.
“2027 is closer than it appears. The decisions the APC makes today regarding its national leadership will determine whether the party thrives or stagnates,” Oche noted.
He further stated that Senator Musa represents the ideal blend of youthful dynamism and seasoned political wisdom, describing him as someone who commands respect across generations and regions.
“He is a leader who resonates with the youth yet possesses the calm maturity of a statesman. His legislative track record, particularly in finance, technology, and electoral reform, speaks volumes about his foresight and commitment to nation-building,” the statement continued.
Unity, Vision, and Credibility Needed at the Helm
Oche argued that APC’s future success hinges on its ability to consolidate internal unity and restore credibility to the national secretariat. He pointed to Musa’s reputation as a bridge-builder and a disciplined reformer capable of restoring confidence in the party’s leadership.
“Senator Musa symbolizes that quiet strength and principled leadership that inspires loyalty and discipline. He’s the kind of leader who can unify our ranks and redefine party politics for the better,” the group asserted.
The youth network also highlighted the senator’s broad-based appeal, stating that he is widely accepted in both northern and southern political circles, and remains accessible to young Nigerians who feel increasingly alienated from national politics.
“We need a chairman who understands the stakes, one who can relate with the grassroots as well as the political establishment. Senator Musa fits this profile perfectly,” Oche added.
An Appeal to Tinubu and Akpabio
In its concluding remarks, the group urged President Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio to rise above internal politicking and encourage Senator Musa to heed the call to service not out of personal ambition, but in the national interest.
“This is not the time for silence or passivity. Posterity is calling. We respectfully appeal to President Tinubu and Senator Akpabio to kindly but firmly persuade Senator Musa to accept this task of national importance,” the statement read.
The group warned that political patronage must not be allowed to override the need for visionary leadership at the helm of the APC. Instead, the party should focus on long-term consolidation and prepare for the political battles that lie ahead.
“If the APC is to remain a dominant force beyond 2027, it must place merit, competence, and national cohesion at the center of its leadership decisions. Senator Sani Musa embodies all of these values,” the group concluded.
