Bauchi Governor’s Son Denigrates Twitter User, Calls Mother Unprintable Names

Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has once again come under fire after launching a vulgar and abusive tirade on social media in response to criticism over alleged corruption and abuse of power.

The controversy began when a Twitter user identified as Malaika accused Shamsuddeen of leveraging his father's political influence for personal enrichment. In response, Shamsuddeen—using his verified Twitter handle @shamsudeen_bala—fired off a profane and deeply offensive tweet that has since gone viral.

“Are you sick in the head?!… If that’s the case, I allege your mother is a whore and you are a bastard child, and that also makes it true,” he wrote in part, shocking many across the political and public spectrum.

The user's original comment questioned Shamsuddeen's "lust for power" and pointed to alleged shady dealings under the protection of the state government, prompting the now-notorious outburst.

A Pattern of Public Misconduct

This is not the first time Shamsuddeen has courted controversy. His combative attitude has often placed him at odds with not just the public and media, but reportedly even his own family. His conduct has been described as reckless and damaging, with sources close to the family alleging that his behavior triggered internal conflict in recent months.

One such incident involved the controversial arrest of Dr. Abubakar Ahmad, a lecturer who shared a video of Shamsuddeen dancing with his wife. The arrest drew national criticism and allegedly widened cracks within the governor's inner circle.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has consistently highlighted alleged misconduct tied to Shamsuddeen and the state’s First Lady, including land grabbing, questionable contract awards, and abuse of public office.

According to an insider familiar with the matter, Governor Bala Mohammed has grown increasingly frustrated with his son’s public antics. “I have repeatedly warned you to stop being childish in your public conduct, but you don’t hear words,” the governor was reportedly quoted as saying in a private conversation.

Backlash from Within the Family

The scandal has reverberated through the Mohammed family, with some relatives distancing themselves from Shamsuddeen's behavior. A family member, Mutawakkil Adamu Mohammed, did not mince words in his criticism.

“Shamsu has scandalised our entire family. He’s brought unnecessary disgrace upon us,” he stated.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for greater accountability among public officials and their family members, especially those who wield undue influence without holding formal office.

As public outrage continues to grow, it remains to be seen whether the Bauchi State Government will issue an official statement addressing the situation or whether further disciplinary action will be taken against Shamsuddeen to prevent future embarrassment.
