Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is currently under suspension, has declared her intention to resume her duties in the Senate on Tuesday.
She stated that her return is in accordance with a recent court decision.
Akpoti-Uduaghan shared this information with journalists on Saturday while attending a training program in her constituency.
The lawmaker, who has been at the center of controversy, explained that her suspension has hindered her ability to carry out her legislative responsibilities.
She confirmed that she has officially informed the Senate in writing of her plans to return. Despite the ongoing dispute surrounding the Abuja Federal High Court's ruling, Akpoti-Uduaghan affirmed she will be back in the Senate chamber on Tuesday.
She said: "I have written to the senate again, telling them that I'm resuming on the 22nd, which is on Tuesday. I will be there because the court did make a decision on that. They argue that it is not an order, but it is a decision, and if you look at Section 318 of the Nigerian Constitution, it did mention that a recommendation forms part of the decision of the court.
“I have pretty much two months more before the six months expire. However, I have written to the Senate again telling them that I’m resuming on the 22nd, which is on Tuesday, by the special grace of God.
“I will be there, because the court did make the decision on that."
