President Tinubu to Visit Kano to Condole with Dantata Family Over Elder Statesman’s Passing

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Kano State on Friday, July 18, 2025, to offer his condolences to the family of the late elder statesman, business mogul, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away recently at the age of 94.

The visit was confirmed in an official statement released by Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who noted that the President’s trip to Kano is a personal gesture of solidarity and mourning with the Dantata family and the people of the state.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu was out of the country when news of Alhaji Dantata’s death broke. However, in a show of respect, he immediately directed a ministerial delegation, led by the Minister of Defence, to represent him at the burial, which took place in Saudi Arabia, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a highly respected figure in Nigerian business and political circles, died on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a long and impactful life marked by philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and national service. He was widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in northern Nigeria’s post-independence development and a major contributor to national economic growth.

During the upcoming visit, President Tinubu is expected to meet privately with members of the Dantata family to extend his personal sympathies. He is also scheduled to pay a condolence visit to the Kano State Government, where he will express his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Federal Government to the people of the state.

The visit underscores President Tinubu’s ongoing commitment to honoring Nigeria’s elder statesmen and acknowledging their contributions to national development. It also reinforces the longstanding relationship between the Dantata family and the nation’s political leadership.

Sources within the presidency indicate that Tinubu will use the opportunity to emphasize the need to preserve the legacy of men like Dantata, whose integrity, patriotism, and charitable works set a standard for future generations.

Further details regarding the President’s itinerary and other engagements in Kano are expected to be released by the State House in due course.
