Current Black Market Dollar (USD) To Naira (NGN) Exchange Rate

The Nigerian currency continued its volatile performance on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, as the naira traded at varying rates across the official and unofficial markets.

At the Lagos Parallel Market (Black Market), Bureau De Change (BDC) operators quoted the dollar at ₦1,555 per $1 for buying and ₦1,550 per $1 for selling, according to market sources.

In contrast, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) maintained tighter official rates, with the dollar trading at ₦1,535 (highest) and ₦1,534 (lowest) in the official window.

Despite the persistent gap between the black market and official rates, the CBN has repeatedly warned that it does not recognize parallel market transactions. The apex bank has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to process their requests through official banking channels to avoid exploitation and fraudulent practices.
