Landlord Gives NYSC Corper ₦2 Million After One-year Stay In Rented Apartment

 

A young Nigerian lady has taken social media by surprise after narrating how she made her first million naira through an unexpected act of generosity from her landlord during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.

The story, which she shared via a TikTok video, has since gone viral, sparking conversations about kindness, generosity, and the rare nature of such gestures in Nigeria.

According to her, she rented a self-contained apartment at the rate of ₦550,000 while serving as a corps member. To her astonishment, when she and other tenants were moving out at the end of their stay, the landlord gave each tenant a parting gift of ₦2 million.

Describing her landlord as extraordinarily kind, she said the financial support was life-changing and marked the beginning of her financial journey.

“I made my first millions from my landlord. I was a corper and I moved into a self-contained apartment. When I was leaving after my NYSC, the landlord gave me and the other tenants ₦2 million each. My rent at the time was ₦550,000,” she narrated.

 

She went on to express a sense of regret, saying she wished she had shown more gratitude for the rare gesture.

“I feel like I didn’t get to appreciate him enough because there’s basically nobody who would do what he did for us in Nigeria right now. I want to thank him for his kindness, generosity, and I hope other landlords show the same love and support to their tenants.”
