A young Nigerian man has taken to social media to appeal for urgent financial assistance after losing money meant for his mother’s hospital bill to gambling.
The man, identified by his X (formerly Twitter) handle as @thomsincruz23, disclosed that his mother’s hospital was demanding ₦35,000 to continue treatment, but he had just lost ₦45,000 in sports betting.
In a heartfelt post, he expressed deep regret and fear, stating that his mother’s life was in danger if the bill was not settled immediately.
“I don’t know what to do now. I just lost 45k to gambling today. Now I can’t even pay 35k for my mom’s hospital bills. I can’t even go to the hospital right now and my mom is dying. Somebody please help me, I don’t want to lose my mom,” he wrote.
