Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has expressed strong concerns over a recent airport incident involving Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate or KWAM 1.
The controversial episode, which has sparked public outcry, saw the singer dangerously close to a moving aircraft on the tarmac an act many have described as a glaring breach of aviation safety protocols.
According to eyewitness accounts and circulating video footage, K1 De Ultimate was seen standing directly in front of a private jet, even after its doors had been shut and the engines revved in preparation for takeoff. As the plane began taxiing, the singer quickly ducked and moved aside to avoid being struck by the aircraft’s wing narrowly escaping what could have been a serious or fatal accident.
Reacting to the incident, Kate Henshaw did not hold back in her criticism of the country’s aviation security systems and what she sees as a double standard when it comes to enforcing rules.
In a strongly worded post shared on social media, the actress wrote:
“Anyhowness of this country!! How is a passenger allowed to stand so close to an aircraft whose doors have closed, engine started & it’s ready for takeoff? If na ordinary Nigerian like me now, agenda go agend. Make we continue to move like we are in the zoo pls! It suits us.”
Henshaw's remarks underscore a growing frustration among Nigerians who feel that celebrities and influential individuals are often treated with undue leniency, even in situations involving public safety and national regulations.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has since imposed a six-month sanction on K1 De Ultimate following the incident. However, public debate continues over whether the enforcement would have been more severe had it involved an average Nigerian.
Many social media users have echoed Henshaw’s sentiments, calling for stricter and more equitable enforcement of aviation laws to prevent future risks and preserve the integrity of the aviation sector.
