Trump Wants US Defense Department renamed To ‘Department Of War’

United States President, Donald Trump, at both his White House events on Monday, has suggested the possible renaming of the US Department of Defense to ‘Department of War.’

Trump, while meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the Oval Office on Monday, said, “You know, we got the Department of Defense, but I — between us, I think we’re going to change the name.”

He said he thought there would be more information to come on the matter “soon.”

“Everybody likes that. We had an unbelievable history of victory when it was Department of War,” Trump said. “Then we changed it to Department of Defense. So that’s a little thing, has nothing to do with your country, but it’s something that I think you’re going to be hearing about or seeing about over the next couple of weeks. Probably that change is going to be made over the next week or so.”

According to ABC News, the Department of War was created in 1789 and was later reorganised and renamed after World War II
