Anambra Lawmaker Dominic Okafor Empowers Aguata Constituents with Wheelbarrows, Cutlasses, and Rakes [PHOTOS]

The member representing Aguata Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dominic Okafor, has launched an empowerment initiative for his constituents, distributing wheelbarrows, cutlasses, and rakes as part of his constituency project.

The event, held in Aguata, attracted beneficiaries from various communities who received the items branded with the lawmaker’s name. According to Hon. Okafor, the gesture was aimed at supporting farmers, artisans, and youths engaged in menial jobs, thereby helping to boost grassroots economic activity.

While some constituents expressed appreciation, describing the tools as helpful for daily survival, others raised concerns about the nature of the empowerment programme. Critics argued that such items do not address the long-term developmental needs of the constituency, calling instead for sustainable projects such as road construction, youth training, and scholarship schemes.

Hon. Okafor, however, maintained that the intervention was part of a broader plan to gradually support different categories of constituents through targeted initiatives.

The distribution has since sparked debates on the effectiveness of constituency projects across Nigeria, where lawmakers often face scrutiny over the scale, impact, and sustainability of their empowerment efforts.
