Chiwetalu Agu Debunks Death Rumours, Says He Is Alive and Healthy

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has dismissed widespread rumours circulating on social media claiming that he had died.

The 67-year-old, famed for his comic roles and unique catchphrases in Nigerian movies, addressed the speculation in a video posted on his Instagram page on Friday. He assured fans and family that he is alive, healthy, and looking forward to enjoying many more years.

Agu’s Response to the Rumour

Introducing himself by his traditional title, Agu rebuked the false reports, declaring that he would outlive those spreading such malicious claims.

“Chief Chiwetalu Agu, okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State is not going to die anytime soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. Na who dig pit go fall inside. Na who dig grave go fall inside. I am yet to carry my grandchildren, and I must do so in good health when my children are ready,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to disregard the hoax, stressing that the reports were fabricated to attract cheap attention. Agu further noted that had the fake news originated from a reputable platform, he would have taken legal action for defamation.

Not the First Time

This is not the first time the veteran actor has been a victim of death hoaxes. Several Nollywood stars have suffered similar experiences in the past, with false reports sparking panic before being debunked. Agu himself admitted that such incidents have repeatedly targeted him, describing it as a disturbing trend.
