Social media critic and political commentator, Reno Omokri, has extended his sympathies to former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his recent health challenges.
Omokri, who is widely regarded as one of Obi’s most outspoken critics, took to his verified Facebook page on Saturday to express sadness upon learning of Obi’s ill health. Despite their frequent political disagreements, Omokri offered prayers for Obi’s speedy recovery, describing him as a figure who has made valuable contributions to Nigeria’s democratic growth.
“I read with sadness Peter Obi’s post about his ill health. My thoughts are with him. While nobody is perfect, Mr. Obi has nevertheless provided invaluable political opposition to Nigeria. He has enriched and deepened our democracy and his existence on our political landscape has some positive effect on the polity,” Omokri wrote.
He added that it was encouraging to know Obi had consulted medical professionals and was following medical advice on his path to recovery.
Omokri further prayed:
“May God preserve Peter Obi’s life and keep him in good health so that he can continue rendering service to our nation.”
