“National Assembly Under My Leadership Proud Of Tinubu” – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio has restated the firm backing of the National Assembly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing pride in the achievements recorded under the President's leadership over the past two years.

In a recent Facebook post, Akpabio praised the Tinubu administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, particularly highlighting the commissioning of the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The Senate President had joined fellow lawmakers to accompany President Tinubu at the formal inauguration of the 30-kilometre stretch of the road project in Lagos.

Akpabio described the project as a “major milestone” and clear evidence that the current administration is delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people. “The commissioning of this first phase is proof that when the National Assembly says Mr. President is doing well, he is truly doing well,” he stated.

Commending Tinubu’s leadership, Akpabio described the President as a visionary and determined leader, committed to reshaping Nigeria’s future. “In President Tinubu, we have a leader who has both sight and vision, and is totally committed to taking Nigerians to where they ought to be,” he remarked.

In the same message, the Senate President also issued a pointed advisory to state governors regarding leadership succession. He urged them to focus on competence and readiness rather than blind loyalty when selecting their successors.

“Governors must not hand over power to those who only kneel to greet them but are unprepared for the responsibilities of governance. That leads to betrayal,” Akpabio warned.

He went on to commend the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, for his dedication and the effective execution of the coastal highway project. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, and today’s commissioning is proof that this administration means what it says and says what it means,” he added.

Akpabio concluded by reaffirming the National Assembly’s commitment to being a strategic partner in the implementation of President Tinubu’s development agenda. According to him, the legislative arm stands ready to support policies and initiatives aimed at transforming Nigeria into a more prosperous and functional nation.
