Ajetsibo Emami, the younger brother of Delta APC chieftain and Tinubu associate Ayiri Emami, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for alleged involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking operation in Lagos.
According to a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday, Emami, also known as “Warri Kinsman,” was apprehended in Ikeja on June 28 during a three-day sting operation that dismantled a trafficking syndicate linked to him.
The agency said its officers recovered “24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a strain of cannabis weighing 414.2 kilograms,” during the raid.
“The bust of Emami’s drug ring followed credible intelligence on his attempt to move the shipment to Lekki area of Lagos, from where it will be distributed to other parts of the state and across the country,” Babafemi said.
Three additional suspects were also taken into custody during the operation. Mugshots of Emami and the seized drugs were released by the NDLEA to the public.
The arrest came barely 24 hours after reporters had disclosed an alleged move to suppress the case due to his connection with influential figures, including his older brother Ayiri, who shares close ties with Tinubu.
Shortly after the arrest was made public, a photo showing Ajetsibo, Ayiri Emami, and Tinubu surfaced on social media, intensifying scrutiny over the potential influence wielded by political elites.
In April, Tinubu had personally issued a birthday message to Ayiri, describing him as a close political ally. The resurfacing of this relationship has fueled public criticism, especially in light of the government’s ongoing crackdown on drug crimes.
