Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has claimed that 99.99% of kidnappings and other forms of criminality in the state are committed by Igbo youths and not Fulani or any other tribes.
Soludo, who stated this during a townhall meeting engagement with the Anambra Diaspora community in the United States, maintained that the Fulani herdsmen attack in the state was a "false narrative."
"I have been in office for three years and three months, if we have arrested 100 criminals in the bush - kidnappers' and so on and so forth, 99.99 percent I repeat are Igbo people. You hear me right I said 99.99 per cent are Igbo people.
The Governor who insisted that he should be quoted anywhere maintained that Igbo youths are deceived to go into the forest to drive out the imaginary killer herdsmen from farmlands have over time found comfort in kidnapping for ransom and engaging in other criminal activities.
"That's part of the lies that was put in propaganda that led to Igbo youths to enter into bushes and forest. They're into kidnapping because it is the next lucrative business after "Yahoo Yahoo" and drug. After drug and "yahoo yahoo," the next one they find is kidnapping."
He said that whenever security agencies apprehend any of them, they would deny any involvement and blame it on Fulani herdsmen.
"If you catch him he will tell you, it is Fulani herdsmen. I repeat and I want you to quote me right, 99.99 per cent of all the criminals, kidnappers and others we have arrested so far are Igbo youths. Igbos are the one kidnapping Igbos, they are the ones killing Igbos. All these camps are Igbo youths. And by the way because I came with the same false narrative.
The false narrative they gave us is Oh! the Fulanis they're invading our people and they are now everywhere, they're waiting for a whistle to be blown and they will take over."
