How N50Million ‘Kola-Nut’ Funds Looted By Party Leaders Sparked Fight At Delta South APC Women’s Meeting, Vehicles Damaged

 

Chaos broke out on Wednesday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta South women’s meeting over the sharing of ‘kola-nut’ money.

The term “kola-nut money” usually refers to funds contributed by politicians or party members to cover expenses such as kola-nuts, drinks, pocket money, transportation for attendees, and other refreshments at political gatherings.

The meeting, which took place at the Isoko South Local Government Secretariat in Oleh, Delta State, was attended by APC women leaders along with female appointees and elected officials from the state government.

According to inside sources, more than N50 million had been raised from politicians and government officials across Delta South Senatorial District to provide ‘kola-nut’ and transportation money for participants. However, the APC women leaders allegedly declined to disclose the total sum collected from all donations.

Trouble reportedly began when women from the eight local government areas of the senatorial district demanded accountability regarding the amount raised and how it would be distributed. The disagreement quickly escalated into protests and eventually into a physical fight, which led to car windscreens being smashed and forced some organizers to flee the venue to avoid being attacked.

One angry APC women leader from a local council told SaharaReporters that the State APC women leader, the Delta South APC women leader, and a few others allegedly conspired to take control of the N50 million ‘kola-nut’ money.

“This is very shameful, this is very disgraceful. You called women from eight local government areas for the APC meeting and the kola-nut money donated by our sons and daughters in government for a purpose, rather than releasing the money and sharing it with everyone that attended the meeting, you people connived and hijacked everything. What did women do to women? It’s a big shame,” she lamented.

In the same vein, a former PDP women leader who spoke anonymously condemned the incident, accusing core APC members of being behind it.

“You see, what is happening in APC today in Delta State is nothing but hunger. Because APC has not seen such huge money before, and since the collapse of PDP into APC, money started flowing everywhere, and they are taking advantage of the flow of money, and that is why you see all these hijacks of kola-nut money every time there is a meeting of APC in the state,” she said.

“This same incident happened last month during the men’s Delta South APC meeting at Oleh where dollars were hijacked,” the former women leader lamented.

A similar incident had earlier occurred in June 2025 during the Delta South Unity and Stakeholders APC meeting. That clash was also triggered by allegations that party leaders, working with some defectors from the PDP, hijacked $50,000 ‘kola-nut’ money.

SaharaReporters gathered that the expanded meeting, held in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, was attended by former PDP members, including the dissolved state leadership, along with APC members and top appointees of both the state and federal government from the senatorial district.
